My name is Seth Egert. I am 19 years old and enjoy making films in my free time. During the school year I attend Hofstra University, where I major in Video/Television. When I’m not attending Hofstra I live in Westfield, NJ.
I’ve been interested in film ever since I was 11 years old. Around this age my parents bought me a webcam, which I started to use to make short animations of my Legos. I then started to create short films using the animations I made and free programs I found on my computer. Eventually, I decided to take my films to the next level and include real actors. I convinced my parents to buy a video camera and started filming around my house, using my friends as actors. It was during this time that “The Clone” was made. When I got to high school, I was able to use the WHS TV Studio and had access to top of the line video and audio equipment. It was during high school that my filmmaking flourished and blossomed into the impressive work on sethegert.com. By taking Television courses at the high school and filmmaking courses in New York City, I was able to learn much more about the craft of filmmaking and the techniques behind it. It was also in high school that I decided to embark on a path of television, as opposed to film. By taking television-based courses, one in particular where we had to create a monthly news program, I became greatly interested in television. That didn’t stop my passion for filmmaking however, as throughout high school I directed and produced short films. Currently, I’ve become focused on my television studies at Hofstra. I’ve joined the Hofstra Filmmakers Club and finished my first documentary, entitled Unplugged. Today I still update my website and continue my passion for film.
